About Me

Edendale, Southland, New Zealand
Hello! We are Room Kea from Edendale Primary School Southland. Currently we have 15 wonderful children in our class. We are the school where children take what they think is impossible and make it possible, where children see what wonderful potential they have and begin setting big goals for their lives. To achieve this at Edendale Primary School our children will be...... confident, connected, actively involved, lifelong learners.

week 6 newsletter

Week 6
Welcome to week 6.
Not many notices this week….
·         Alice Holland will be in our Room on Friday teaching.
·         Remember there is a teacher only day next Monday- this means there will be no school that day.
·         We have had a few issues in Room Kea with children bringing unsuitable dangerous household items to school. Pleas make sure your matches, knifes etc. are stored away somewhere safe and DON’T make it into your child’s school bag.
·         Library on Friday.
·         Please make sure your child is getting plenty of sleep. This is very important for your child’s learning and development.
Have a great week,
Abby de Groot

How do we attract native birds to Edendale School...UPDATE

 INQUIRY TERM 2

UPDATE...

Last term our enquiry topic was - How can we attract more native birds to Edendale School.

After a lots of research and by working through the technology process we decided that a bird table close to trees and away from children and the road would be the best idea to solve our problem.

Miss de Groot's Dad, Rob, built us a bird table and Gabby's Dad, Mr Shepherd put it in the ground.

I am pleased to say that it was a success!!! The children are great at remembering to put out fresh bird seed, fruit and sometimes fat (ewww) Steve our resident Rooster is quite the fan also!!!

We have so many birds visiting. From black birds and sparrows, to wax eyes, starlings and the odd cheeky seagull. Looking out my window now I can see 5 wax eyes.

We are looking forward to see what other birds come along.

Thank you to everyone who helped with that inquiry.

 SNOW DAY!
Everyone loves a snow day! It was so nice to sleep in until 10am.
Some of us got so excited we forgot to put our shoes on. Brrrrrrrrrr chilly feet!

 SOUTHLAND STAGS COME TO SCHOOL!!!!

What a cool week we have had! We were lucky enough to get 'Stevo' the Stag and three players to come along to talk to us about what motivates them as players.
The senior children had a range of interesting questions to ask the guys. The wee ones were mesmerized by Stevo as he danced and they chanted "Stevo! Stevo! Stevo!"

                                         WELCOME BACK!!!
